Getting the most out of Warner Bros Movie World

Movieworld is a year round attraction and there are plenty of places to shelter from the rain or the sun depending on the weather. A few years ago they built massive covers for the Main Street Plaza area making it an all weather attraction.

Before you head out to this theme park, it is worth checking out the different ticket and pass options so that you choose the best option for you when visiting Gold Coast.

The different attractions at Movie World make it suitable for families of all ages.

When you enter Warner Bros Movie World, if you are after the rides for the big kids, you will find them down the left hand side of the theme park.

The area for kids - Kids WB! Fun Zone - is to be found by walking through Main Street and Main Street Plaza and then heading right at the big screen. This area is geared to younger children with a range of rides providing age and size appropriate thrills!

Bring a change of clothes and towel for the little ones and they can enjoy the water fun in this area too. It's not a big area but kids can get wet and you know how they love that ;-)

Warner Bros Movie World White Christmas Events

White Christmas is a seasonal event which started in 2010. Each year it evolves and has a different format.

White Christmas is definitely a family event and well worth doing. Even if you are not into Christmas and the celebrations, you can enjoy the million lights, the fake snow and riding the rollercoasters at night! I know my kids enjoyed it.

Some of the shows are too cheesy for my liking. The younger kids will enjoy them though. The parade is fun for all the family, with a seasonal flavour to the usual Movie World parade.

Information about the exact events, dates and times usually becomes available during late October or November each year. This event is NOT included in your MovieWorld Ticket or Pass and a separate ticket must be purchased for the night you want to go.

Tickets are limited. Make sure you book as soon as the tickets become available - first year it was on, we missed out because we left it too late. The last night is usually the biggest and busiest so make sure you book early.

Warner Bros Movie World Fright Nights Events

Fright Nights are held at Warner Bros Movie World seasonally usually during October to co-incide with Halloween.

What started as a child friendly event has become decidedly more scary as it has grown each year. Now, this event is not recommended for children, and is pretty much an adult event.

The park is transformed with mood lighting and scary facades on some of the unspooky areas. Around the park there are scare actors who's job it is to... well... SCARE YOU... I guess! And there are mazes to get lost in and get scared that you got lost.

This is a blood curdling event that is not for everyone. They specially train actors to spook you out around the park and in the mazes.

Check out the types of names and rebranding that goes on: Star Cafe turns into Club Blood with a Gothic DJ and cage dancers, mazes with names like Saw, Psycho 3D, Batman Arkham Assylum Maze and Zombie Apocalypse and the shows are Les Damned Vampire Burlesque and Circus of the Damned.

As you can tell it is definitely for Adults and not for kids. There is plenty to do without going on the rides.

If this is your thing you need to get tickets for these events, your park ticket or pass does not give you access to this special event - unless that was specified when you purchased (you''ll know!).

2019 Fright Nights Dates & Details

Dates and ticket details are usually released in September each year. Please check back for details when they become available.

Times are usually from around 6pm through to 10.30pm. Rides run till 9pm.

Enjoy the specially created mazes, shows and the rides as well as spooks around every corner!

Warner Bros Movie World When It's Raining

It does rain on the Gold Coast, particularly during our summer months which are our rainiy season. A little rain should not put you off visiting this theme park, but there are some things to consider.

You can buy a rain poncho in the park - but these are the disposable type and very expensive for what they are. Take your own rain mac - they don't take up much space. Or wear quick drying clothes! Seriously, in our summer that can be the best option because the showers come and go and it is hot so you will dry off fairly quickly.

When it rains, some of the rides may close temporarily depending on the conditions. However, because there are quite a few indoor attractions and the undercover area in Main Street Plaza there is usually plenty to keep you entertained during a light shower.

Occassionally we get a day when it is raining extremely heavily and it is not likely to stop during the day. If that occurs it is worth checking whether there are any closures before heading out to the theme park, it may be better to reschedule your visit to a less rainy day.
