Which Gold Coast Theme Park Is Better For A Toddler Under 4 years old
I am planning to visit Gold Coast in October and want to know which of the Gold Coast theme parks would be better for toddlers under 4.
Also which place would be better to stay with young family...Surfers Paradise or Kirra or..??
Best theme park for younger kids under 4?
My immediate reaction is Sea World, because of the animals and Sesame Street Characters and the shows. It was always my theme park of choice when my youngest was that age.

The animal exhibits engage the kids regardless of age, there are the touch pools, the huge underwater viewing areas for the fish, rays and sharks in Shark Bay, the Polar Bears, the dolphins, the Penguin Exhibit and they usually have child friendly movie experience and character shows.

Yup! Sea World gets my thumbs up.
Dreamworld is probably my second choice, it also has some animals in the Australian animal section and the Dreamworld Tigers.
Dreamworld also has child themed areas that include character based rides and entertainment including Kung Fu Panda, Shrek and The Wiggles World. Wiggles World is a big hit with younger children.
The reason it comes a second for me is that I find it quite a large area to cover for the little ones, the animals are at one side of the park and the kids section is at another.
Realistically, either would be good, but I would personally choose Sea World myself.
Okay, so where to stay?
Other than going to the theme parks, if you want to spend time on the beach, Kirra is a good spot and close to Coolangatta which has one of my favourite beaches for families.
I've written about Coolangatta elsewhere, so I won't repeat it all here. A great spot, though away from the action of Surfers Paradise.
For a toddler, there probably isn't that much in Surfers Paradise that they would miss by being in Kirra or Cooly.
Getting to Sea World will take you about 35 to 40 minutes by car and Dreamworld probably about the same from here.
Versus getting to Sea World from Surfers Paradise takes about 10 minutes maximum and Dreamworld about 25 to 30 minutes by car.
At Kirra or Coolangatta you are also closer to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary which your toddler might enjoy, the animals are fantastic and you can feed kangaroos and Emus by hand.
I hope that gives you some ideas, if you have any more questions or want any more suggestions please leave a comment below or use the contact form to contact me directly.
Cheers
