Travelling with Babies and Young Children To Gold Coast
by Shah
(Perth)
I have a question about travelling to the Gold Coast with a baby and young children.
I have a boy of 11 months and 4 year old girls. Do you have any travelling suggestion such as foodwise and weather so that I can do my packing?
3 children under 5 can be quite a handful for travelling! Luckily the Gold Coast is very family and child friendly.
Most apartments and hotels are to some extent family friendly. If not and you find you need some baby or child equipment there is a hire company that hires out cots, high chairs (very useful) and other child items - worth while hiring ahead of your arrival so they are there when you arrive and also they get booked out at peak times.
Car hire companies have baby seats etc, but you need to get in and book those early especially at busy times as I have been caught short without a car seat before now.
As for food you will find a huge variety of foods available on the Gold Coast and there are the large supermarkets, small shops and even petrol stations (though only a limited range) that stock baby foods and food suitable for young children.
When travelling by airplane to Gold Coast, remember that you may not be able to take certain sized baby foods jars in your carry on luggage on the plane due to security restrictions. You will need to check with your airline before you leave. My sister had that problem bringing her daughter from New Zealand, she was asked to open and taste all of the foods! Not something that is going to work for a baby!
As for weather, it depends when you are visiting - check out my Monthly Visitors Guides one for each month to get an idea of what you can expect each month including the average weather information.
If you are visiting during Gold Coast winter, the days are often warm in to the low 20s during the day but get cooler at night.
When packing, especially for the children, I would make sure I have plenty of layers so I can strip them off or pile them on if it is cooler. Also, make sure you have some wet weather gear just in case, as there is nothing worse than being stranded inside when it's raining with kids on holiday.
If it does rain when you visit I have a back up plan! Rainy day activities that you can do on the Gold Coast even when it is raining. There is still lots to do so you have a great holiday.
I hope that helps answer your question about travelling to the Gold Coast with babies and young children, if you have any more specific questions, please add a comment below or contact me directly.
Have a great family holiday on the Gold Coast
