Pacific Fair Experience

Pacific Fair Shopping Centre at Broadbeach is a common shopping stop for visitors and locals. With both large retailers and smaller specialty stores, plus cinemas, entertainment and cafes, there is plenty to keep you occupied.

As one of Australia's largest shopping complexes, in 2008 plans were announced for a major redevelopment. The redevelopment will take several years and by the end of it the centre should have regained its title as the largest shopping centre in Australia with some 420 retailers.

Pacific Fair is somewhat dated. The indoor shopping areas are modern and sleek, but the outdoor areas certainly look tired and dated.

Shopping wise, Pac Fair is where to go for just about any personal shopping requirements. At Christmas it is packed!

Some of the major retailers you will find at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre are:

  • Woolworths - groceries
  • Coles - groceries
  • Myer - department store
  • KMart - general goods
  • Best & Less - clothing
  • Target - general goods
  • Toys R Us - toys
  • ABC Shop and Australian Geographic
  • Billabong, Quiksilver, City Beach, Kathmandu and Speedo.

The other specialty stores and services cover a diverse range including:

  • Fashion & Accessories – Ladies, Childrens and Mens
  • Hair and Beauty Products
  • Jewellry
  • Household Goods and Giftware
  • Pet Store
  • Sports Goods
  • Souvenirs
  • Banks, Realty and health insurance

The shops are generally open from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday, with late night shopping Thursday till 9pm and a half hour earlier close on Sunday at 5pm. Shops will have different opening hours on public holidays.

Pacific Fair In Wet Weather

There are two parts to Pacific Fair. The indoor multi-level shopping centre is great for rainy days.

The other part of Pacific Fair is based around a village feel. It is open air and so on very rainy days you get really wet trying to shop here. If it is light rain, I wouldn't be put off, but if it is torrential best to stay in the indoor part.

The Birch Caroll and Coyle Cinemas with its 12 screens is a popular choice for those staying in Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach and down the coast to Burleigh Heads, especially so when it is wet.

Both the cinemas and the Intencity video games arcade are at the western side of Pacific Fair, if it is wet you want to park on that side. If you park on the indoor shopping centre side (the eastern side), you will get wet walking to the cinemas and entertainment area. The cinemas and entertainment zone have different opening hours to the shops.
