At Marina Mirage shopping is a pleasure not a chore!

Shopping at Marina Mirage started to change in 2008 when a major redevelopment was undertaken. The centre is now completely undercover. Previously the centre section was open to the elements. There has been a change in the mix of shops with even more emphasis on international designer brand names.

The Marina Mirage Experience

Marina Mirage is located on Seaworld Drive, Main Beach. If you get to to Sea World you've gone too far!

It's a pretty exclusive location! Right next door is the 6 star Palazzo Versace hotel and across the road but linked by a walkway is the poorer cousin! The mere 5 star Sheraton Mirage!

Marina Mirage Shopping Centre is build on the edge of the marina. Whenever you are around a marina with large and expensive boats, there is a certain feel. And Marina Mirage certainly capitalizes on that.

You will not find department stores and $2 dollar shops here! This is pure exclusive boutique shopping and there are no apologies!

During 2008 and 2009 Marina Mirage underwent major refurbishments which caused a lot of disruption and a few changes to the tenancies.

The new Marina Mirage is all about the big names. International brands and the really well known local Australian brands are on the menu these days. Some of the local boutiques you may have seen in visits past have had to move on to other venues, pressured by the big rents.

Some of the brands you can find at Marina Mirage Shopping Centre include:

  • Calvin Klein
    Carla Zampatti
    Charlie Brown
    French Connection
    George Gross Harry Who
    Guess by Marciano
    Hermes
    Lisa Ho
    Tommy Hilfiger
    United Colors of Benetton

If you are visiting to purchase, make sure you bank balance and credit cards are ready for the assault. This is definitely NOT where you will find bargains. This is full price, full service end of town.

The shops are generally open from 10am to 6pm. The restaurants and some of the shops stay open later, but you need to check that with individual shops.

Eateries at Marina Mirage that are my personal favourites include the sensational Omeros Bros Seafood restaurant for lunch and dinner and for a quick stop Max Brenner's Chocolate emporium (that's not really the name, but I think it is a chocolate emporium!).

There are certainly plenty of choices and styles of restaurants to choose from at Marina Mirage Shopping centre, from a casual light meal through to some of the top offerings on the Gold Coast.

Marina Mirage Farmers Markets

Marina Mirage used to host the Marina Mirage Farmers markets on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturdays of each month.

These markets were one of my personal favourites for local fresh and handmade produce. It was a local gourmet delight!

Unfortunately, they were moved out during the rennovations and not moved back, a new home was found for them right next door at Fisherman's Wharf, but after just one market these were abandoned due to the location of the new Gold Coast Police helicopter.

Sadly, these markets don't look like they will return, but if they do... I'll let you know!

What's Around Marina Mirage?

Marina Mirage is in Main Beach as you drive along Seaworld Drive towards The Spit.

Main Beach accommodation includes:

Main Beach Hotels

  • Palazzo Versace - 6 star luxury
  • Sheraton Mirage - 5 star luxury
  • Sea World Resort - family friendly resort

Main Beach Holiday Apartments

  • Pacific Views Resort - one of my favourite picks for Main Beach. All apartments have ocean views and it is ideally situated close to the beach, Southport SLSC andTedder Avenue.

Marina Mirage Facilities

As well as the shopping centre and fabulous cafes and restaurants, there is a full marina with both commercial and private boats. Many of the Gold Coast boat tours and trips are based in this marina including the Tall Ship cruises and some of the Gold Coast whale watching tour operators.

Outside the shopping complex there is also a wharf tavern, Hogs Breath Cafe and other family oriented dining experiences!
