How To Get From Jupiters in Broadbeach To DreamWorld
by Githa
(INDONESIA)
How can I get from Jupiters in Broadbeach to DreamWorld and MovieWorld theme parks?
How can I get there and how long will it take to get from Broadbeach to DreamWorld and MovieWorld?
Can I get a detail map of Gold Coast?
Thank you. GS
Update
This question was answered originally in 2010, since then there have been major changes to transport options. However, this question has been refreshed and updated to reflect current options and direct you to other resources on this website where information is updated regularly. The three main ways are:
- Using public transport
- Get a shuttle bus from your hotel to the theme parks
- Hire a car and drive yourself
If you follow the links above you will see I have expanded the answers for each one below.
Driving yourself will take approx 20 to 30 minutes.
Shuttle buses take approximately 40 minutes to an hour.
Public transport takes about 40 minutes to an hour depending on the time of day and connections between trams and buses. However, you need to walk to the G:Link Tram Stop nearest you. Also, if you want to travel outside the times the express buses run, travel time blows out to nearly 2 hours!
You can buy detailed maps of the Gold Coast when you arrive, or you can use GPS in a hire car.
If you have a smartphone that has internet access, try Google maps. I personally use it for just about everything. Check out maps.google.com.au for the Australian version.
Read on down for the transfer information.
Shuttle Bus Transfer Options For Dreamworld and Movieworld
The easiest option is to get a shuttle bus to pick you up directly from your hotel.
You can book them online and pick the date and number of passengers and then give the pick up location as your accommodation.
Most Gold Coast theme park shuttle buses pick up from all the major accommodations in Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach and the main tourist centres.
Travel time on a shuttle bus will depend a bit on how many other stops they have to make after they pick you up.
Gold Coast theme parks gates are now generally open at 9.30am, but the actual attractions and rides don't open until 10am.
Shuttle buses can get you there nice and early so you can enjoy the parks for the maximum time.
Even though the travel time from Jupiters in Broadbeach is probably between 20 and 30 minutes, on a shuttle bus you are likely to be on the bus for 40 minutes to an hour each way because of the pick ups.
You can find more information about shuttle transfers and options here: Gold Coast Theme Park & Attraction Shuttles
You should find a range of options and most of the shuttles offer early, mid and late theme park transfers from Gold Coast hotels, family packages and combinations including airport transfers.
Drive Yourself To Dreamworld and Movieworld
If you are comfortable driving on the Gold Coast then hiring a car can be more convenient, faster and often about the same cost as the return transfers for a day of hire (that depends on the type of car you hire etc).
Many overseas visitors are concerned about driving on the other side of the road, but we actually drive on the same side (left hand side of the road) as UK, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Thailand, Japan, New Zealand and South Africa for example.
This can sway many people to reconsider this as an option, and hiring a GPS can make it super easy to navigate around the Gold Coast.
At the Gold Coast theme parks the parking is free and there is lots of it.
Driving yourself gives you more flexibility to come and go when it suits you, which can be useful if you are travelling with small children.
I like to use a car hire comparison tool to find the best options for my car hire.
Select your pick up location which could be from Gold Coast and Brisbane Airports or in Surfers Paradise.
I like this tool because their prices are good sometimes even better than going direct!
From Jupiters it will take you between 20 to 30 minutes to drive to MovieWorld at Oxenford or Dreamworld at Coomera. Both are on the Pacific Motorway and are very well signposted, or you can hire a GPS with your car to make it even easier! You can use Google Maps for directions.
Public Transport Transfer Options For Dreamworld and Movieworld
Using public transport, you can get to both these theme parks. Jupiter's is conveniently placed near the Broadbeach G:Link Tram stops.
You will find more information about which trams and buses to catch on this page where I answered a similar question for someone else travelling to Dreamworld using public transport.
