Gold Coast Things to See and Do With a 6 Month Old Baby
(Sydney)
Gold Coast things to see and do with a 6 month old baby?
I would like to hear any ideas on what activities are available or things to see with a 6mth old baby whilst visiting the Gold Coast?
The second time I visited the Gold Coast I came with my eldest daughter, who was somewhere between 6 and 9 months old - my memory is failing me for the details!

What I do remember is that, we weren't very prepared, nor had we thought it through very much!
Our daughter, of course, remembers nothing, but loves the photos! We took her to the beach - nice and early in the morning before it got too hot. We took her to the swimming pool in the resort we stayed at.
We took her to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and she pointed at the animals and we got to enjoy it too.
We also went to MovieWorld and my husband got to go on the rides whilst I stayed with the stroller and kept her company! We have photos of Cat Girl holding her for a photo opportunity!
At night we would go early to the restaurants in Surfers Paradise and if we were lucky she would fall asleep in her stroller.
My general answer to you is, your 6 month old won't remember much, so just being with you on holiday is enough for them! Your attention, the usual feeding and other requirements and new surroundings will be more than stimulating enough for them. The key is to make sure YOU enjoy the holiday!
As a been there done that parent, my advice, is take lots of photos. Take your baby to places you want to go to, that are appropriate of course!
I am not suggesting you go out clubbing and take them, but if you want to go to Dreamworld, SeaWorld, Wet n Wild or MovieWorld to enjoy the theme parks and don't mind tag teaming for some of the rides etc, then I would highly recommend you do that. When your baby becomes bigger you go through another stage where it is harder to do the tag team! So enjoy it whilst you can.
At 6 months old they are constrained to their pram or stroller and are relatively inert. They may point and coo at the different animals, so places like Currumbin, DreamWorld or Sea World are definitely good places to go.
Off the top of my head there are a couple of things you might not be able to do with a small baby, such as the Sea World Whale Watching Cruise is for over 3 year olds and there are obviously age and height restrictions for some of the rides and attractions at the various theme parks. There are plenty of things you can do though.
Above all, make sure you enjoy your holiday, it is a precious time. Let me know how you get on and if you have any suggestions for other parents with small babies visiting the Gold Coast.
