Gold Coast Holiday Activity Ideas
by Michael B
(South Australia)
We are a family of three made up of 2 adults and a 6 year old daughter. We have been to the Gold Coast a few times now and just looking for something different to do.
We always go to the theme parks and have done Australia Zoo too, plus Aqua Duck and the shopping malls and discount markets....
I've read a lot on you page, which has been a great source of info over the time for us, making things a lot better so thanks very much for this....
What can we do that won't cost the earth. Don't really have any issues with travelling out of the heart of surfers where we stay....
We love the Gold Coast but I just thought it was time to see what else is on offer....
Thanks again for you website and all the included info. Great help to all that read it, kind regards, Michael
Ah ha, where do I start for extra things to do.
Why not head up to Eagle Heights/Mt Tamborine. There are rainforest walks (free) and a treetops walk, plus thunderegg hunting at Thunderbird Park and a range of activities that your daughter might enjoy.
You’ll find some of these things on our tour and ticket desk.
Search for Mt Tamborine and you can find more information about each of these things.
If you fancy a trip to Brisbane you can drive up or catch train to South Bank and there is lots to do there. If you drive to West End and park near the River Cat terminal, you can take a very inexpensive river cruise on the ferry right up to Brett's Wharf at Hamilton and then all the way back - it's fantastic and such great value to get out on the water! If you don't want to go all that way, you can get off at South Bank and enjoy that area too.
Other things you could consider would be to take some day trips.
A great adventure would be to go to Tangalooma for the day. Once at Tangalooma you can go on an eco cruise, sand toboggan, snorkel, enjoy the resort facilities and may see turtles, dugongs, dolphins and depending on the time of year whales – which is a bit more expensive but a great experience.
Another day trip option is to head south to northern NSW to Tropical Fruit World, Crystal Castle or even head to Byron Bay for the day.
I hope that gives you some ideas, let me know if you need anything else.
Cheers
